British Sign language (BSL) Teacher Assistant
I am is looking to appoint a BSL Teaching Assistant to work within the Birmingham area in September on a full time or part time basis.
This is a Birmingham Special School based in Birmingham. All students attending this service have special educational needs around Hearing Impairment and deafness and the school is purpose built around these needs. The school is equipped with specialist software and materials and all children are taught British Sign Language. The school has a passion to teach students who have hearing impairment or are deaf.
The school is looking for Level 3 Special Needs Assistants who can communicate with the deaf and hard of hearing through recognised methods such as BSL level 3.
You will be required to assist the teaching in daily tasks, learning activities, adding support when needed. You will need to be a resourceful and creative in your teaching approach and teach using your own initiative. You will be very good a planning ahead, and thinking on the spot as and when required..

Applicant requirements;
*Level 3 Support Assistant with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
*Promote equal opportunities withing the school
*Calm approach- Engaging with pupils at all time
*Support at a consistently good level
*Have knowledge of extensive Makaton( desirable)
*Be able to communicate very well using sign language is necessary
