Aspire People are looking for a School Librarian to work with one of our secondary schools close to Evington. The school has been rated “GOOD” by OFSTED. Ideal applicants would ideally have experience in a school library or librarian experience. Applicants with strong administration experience in a similar sector will also be considered but you must have the drive and enthusiasm to learn new skills and have the ability to adapt quickly.

Each candidate applying will ideally have a strong background in working with students as well as an eye for detail.
We are looking for an ambitious person with a love of literature and the ability to work under pressure. Good knowledge of IT and library management systems is essential.

To be able to be considered for such positions, applicants must either have a DBS that is dated within the last 12 months or be willing to pay GBP53 for a new one.

The role will include but is not limited too;
-To be responsible for the library facility on a daily basis: its service to pupils, its security and
health and safety, utilising the appropriate services of other support staff to assist when
necessary.
-To manage the library as a learning and literacy resource.
-Contribute to pupils’ learning at MBS and MGS, working in close partnership with teaching
and non-teaching staff and in line with the Federations teaching and learning and literacy
strategies.
-Collaborate with Subject Coordinator’s in the design and delivery of literacy programmes or
resources for specific projects and courses.
-To develop the library’s contribution to literacy programmes and inspire and enthuse pupils
to read widely.
-To help run, organize the library/literacy programmes or (extracurricular) clubs or other programmes that may need assistance.
– To help assist/bridge the gaps between pupils and teachers and online/electronic information, the
curriculum and subject teaching.
-To maintain and develop a working knowledge of the various educational initiatives that are current.
