Job Title: Careers Advisor (SEMH Focus)Location: B12 Area, Birmingham
Salary: £104- £148 per day, DOE
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: May 2025 (or sooner if available)
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to achieve their potential and prepare for life beyond school?
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Careers Advisor to join our supportive and dynamic team in a specialist school located in the heart of Birmingham's B12 area. Our school caters to children and young people with SEMH needs, and we pride ourselves on creating a nurturing, structured environment that promotes success, resilience and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and group careers guidance tailored to the needs of students with SEMH.
* Develop personalised career plans and transition support for each pupil.
* Liaise with teaching staff, external agencies, employers and post-16 providers to create pathways into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
* Organise careers events, work experience opportunities and employer engagement activities.
* Maintain accurate records in line with statutory guidance and school policies.
Essential Requirements:
* Level 6 (or working towards) qualification in Careers Guidance or equivalent.
* Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH or additional needs.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning.
* Understanding of safeguarding and commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
* Experience working in a school or alternative provision setting.
* Knowledge of local training providers, employers and education opportunities.
