About the Role
We are seeking a talented and versatile Design Teacher to take on a full-time, fixed-term position, starting in January and lasting until January 2026. This role is ideal for an educator with a broad skill set who can teach Textiles, Timbers, Graphics, Product Design, and Food Technology to secondary-aged students. You will be joining a forward-thinking, supportive department that values innovation and aims to inspire creativity and practical skills in every student.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:
* Planning and Delivering Lessons across various design and technology disciplines, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs of students from Key Stages 3 to 5.
* Fostering a Positive Learning Environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity and develop hands-on skills in textiles, woodwork, graphic design, product design, and food technology.
* Engaging Students in Practical and Theoretical Knowledge that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, preparing students with skills they can use both in further study and in real-world contexts.
* Collaborating with Colleagues in the design and technology department to continually improve the curriculum and share resources and best practices.
To succeed in this role, you must have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential for teaching in a secondary school environment.
* Experience or Specialisation in Design and Technology, particularly in Textiles, Timbers, Graphics, Product Design, and Food Technology. This includes both practical and theoretical aspects of each subject area.
* Passion for Inspiring Creativity and the ability to foster a positive learning environment that encourages students to think critically and develop practical skills.
* Strong Communication and Classroom Management Skills to engage students of varying skill levels.
* A Flexible and Adaptable Approach to teaching, capable of adjusting to the specific needs of our diverse student body.
