Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant - SEND Support - Long Term - Full Time - Wilmslow - CheshireJob Title: Experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - SEND Support
Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire.
Job Type: Long-Term, Full-Time (with potential to go permanent)
Hours: 8:15am - 4:15pm
Start Date: December 2024
Role Overview:
As an experienced LSA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of SEND needs, ensuring they are able to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and the rest of the dedicated, family-feel support staff team, to provide tailored assistance to students with specific learning or behavioural needs. The role is long-term, with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND, both in the classroom and during other school activities, where necessary.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to individual student needs.
* Support students with a range of learning difficulties, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, SEMH, and other specific needs. (Although only one area of expertise/experience is necessary)
* Assist with managing behaviour, promoting positive social interaction, and developing independent learning skills.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
* Liaise regularly with teaching staff, the dedicated SENCO team, and any additional third-party services, to monitor student progress and provide feedback.
* Help students access the curriculum using appropriate resources and differentiated tasks.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Learning Support Assistant/Teaching Assistant, ideally with SEND experience.
* Strong understanding of SEND and the different strategies used to support students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
* A commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities for all students.
* Relevant qualifications in education or SEND (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
* A clean and clear DBS on the update service or be in a position to procure one.
* Experience of using assistive technologies or specific SEND tools would be an advantage.
