Job description

Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a fulfilling and rewarding role?
Aspire are seeking a compassionate individual to join our team at a specialist school in Kidderminster, where you will play a vital role in supporting children with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), trauma, and anxiety & SEMH. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children who require additional support to reach their full potential.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with children who have a range of complex needs, providing them with the care, encouragement, and tailored support they require to thrive in an educational setting. The role involves assisting students with their daily learning activities, supporting their emotional well-being, and ensuring that they feel safe and valued within the school environment.
You will work as part of a committed and experienced team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to implement individual education plans that address each child's specific needs. This will include adapting learning materials, using assistive technology where necessary, and helping students to develop essential life skills alongside their academic progress.
A key aspect of this role involves providing emotional and behavioural support to students who may struggle with anxiety and trauma-related challenges. You will be responsible for helping them to regulate their emotions, build confidence, and develop positive relationships with their peers and staff.
Additionally, some students may require personal care support, including assistance with mobility, feeding, and toileting, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting children with PMLD, SLD, trauma, SEMH and anxiety in both one-to-one and group settings
* Assisting students with their academic learning, communication, and life skills development
* Helping to implement individual learning and behaviour management plans
* Providing emotional and behavioural support to help students feel safe and engaged in their learning
* Assisting with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support where necessary
* Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a positive learning environment
* Monitoring student progress and reporting any concerns to the relevant staff members
* Encouraging independence and building confidence in students through positive reinforcement
* Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times
Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly those with PMLD, SLD, trauma, and anxiety
* A caring, patient, and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each student
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals
* A willingness to assist with personal care tasks where required
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of all students
* A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential, as the school is in a location not accessible by public transport
Why Join Us?
* A supportive and welcoming team environment with ongoing training and professional development opportunities
* The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with special educational needs
* Referral fee from £100.00 - £250.00 per person
* A rewarding and fulfilling role where no two days are the same
* A school that values the well-being of both students and staff, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere
