Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) - SWSalary: £150-£250 per day
Contract: Full Time
Location: South West London
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team and support our commitment to inclusive education. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities within our school.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Headteacher, the SENCO will:
Lead the strategic development of the school's SEN policy and provision.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy, ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with SEN or disabilities.
Provide professional guidance and support to staff, working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
Manage and coordinate specific interventions and additional support for individual pupils.
Line manage the provision for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, ensuring effective support and inclusion.
Strategic Development of SEN and EAL Provision:
Maintain a strategic overview of SEN and EAL provision, monitoring and reviewing its effectiveness.
Contribute to school self-evaluation, particularly regarding SEN and EAL.
Ensure that SEN policy objectives are integrated into the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
Stay up to date with national and local initiatives that impact SEN and EAL provision.
Assess the effectiveness of SEN and EAL funding and recommend improvements.
Oversee the development and implementation of the school's EAL policy and provision.
Candidate Requirements:
A recognised SENCO qualification or willingness to undertake training.
Experience working with pupils with SEN and/or disabilities.
Strong knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices in inclusive education.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies to support pupil development.
