Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school located in Grantham.The ideal candidate will also have the ability to teach either Maths or English. This dual role is crucial in supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring they receive a high-quality education in core subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
SENCO Duties:
* Lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs.
* Develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEN strategy and policy.
* Coordinate and manage the SEN team.
* Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure the needs of students are met.
* Conduct assessments and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
* Monitor and report on the progress of students with SEN.
Teaching Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in Maths or English.
* Assess, record, and report on the progress and attainment of students.
* Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
* Support the pastoral care of students, promoting their well-being and academic progress.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* NASENCO Award (or willingness to work towards it).
* Proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar role.
* Strong subject knowledge in Maths or English with the ability to teach up to GCSE level.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
