Job description
Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?Do you have a strong commitment to helping students thrive academically and emotionally? We are looking for a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join one of our client independent schools in Telford.
The site caters to pupils with SEMH needs, as well as additional learning needs, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can reach their full potential. The curriculum they deliver is designed to challenge students academically while fostering essential social skills, emotional resilience, and self-confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
- Assist with the delivery of a curriculum tailored to meet the individual needs of each student
- Promote emotional resilience and self-confidence in a positive, supportive classroom environment
- Help develop and implement strategies to manage behavior and encourage social interaction
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to monitor student progress and adapt support as necessary
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging pupils to engage and participate in all aspects of school life
The Ideal Candidate:
- Resilient, empathetic, and proactive with a strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH and/or additional learning needs is desirable
- A patient and flexible approach to supporting children's diverse needs
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm, positive attitude under pressure
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferred but not essential
